This workshop provides a hands-on introduction to the Blackboard Learn interface and organization features. You will focus on navigation, course style, and the process of planning, adding, and organizing links on the course menu.

The assignments tool enables you to collect student documents uploaded in Blackboard. Use it to create, manage, and distribute activities that assess students in meaningful ways beyond traditional objective tests.

The Grade Center's organization and management capabilities are incorporated into the assignments tool, allowing you to provide feedback and grades efficiently. Learn More

Blackboard: Discussions | 

Online discussions provide some unique benefits. Because students can take time to ponder before posting ideas, you may see more thoughtful conversations play out. Discover new ways to host discussions such as wiki, blog, and journal tools.

You can observe as students demonstrate their grasp of the material and correct misconceptions. You can extend your office hours by reaching students more often during the week so learning is continuous. Learn More

Review tools in the Blackboard Learn Grade Center, set up columns and select options.

  • Create new columns: numeric, calculated
  • Use Smart Views to filter the grade columns
  • Enter and edit grades
  • Download and upload the grade data
  • Create feedback for students
  • Enter manual overrides to grades

Blackboard: Groups | 

In this workshop, you learn to facilitate collaboration among students by setting up groups. In Blackboard Learn, groups can have their own discussion board, blog, journals, and wikis. Group members can exchange documents, submit group assignments, send email to other group members, and distribute tasks to keep the group on track. Learn More

In Blackboard Learn, you can use tests to measure student knowledge, gauge progress, and gather information from students.

In this workshop, the main focus is on creating tests and questions, choosing appropriate settings, and adding tests to course areas. Along the way, you will learn some best practices for using tests as teaching tools and encouraging academic honesty. Learn More

Blackboard: Course Reports |

In Blackboard Learn, you can run several types of course reports to view information about course usage and activity. You can view summaries of course usage such as which course areas are used most frequently and course access patterns for specific students.

Office 365

Office 365: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams and OneNote. Tutorials cover basic and advanced functions, including power shortcuts. Learn how to reduce daily classroom busywork and give educators more time to teach with tools like OneNote and Teams.

 

Closed Captioning

When your syllabus includes the use of VHS, DVDs, or online and digital media, it is necessary to determine if they are closed captioned. Captioning makes media accessible to students with hearing impairments by displaying all audio content in printed form on the screen, similar to the appearance of subtitles. All media that is shown in the classroom or posted in Blackboard needs to be accessible to all students. Learn More
